Well, today's our house Arrancar's birthday, so I'm giving him the week off, and from now on ALL of my CTW's will be posted on Fridays!

And since I'm not a fan of eating a Cero blast, I'm still going to let Ulquiorra do whatever he wants as long as he gets it done, but he should remember, I have Kurosaki Ichigo's number on speed dial (number 15 lol)...

OMFG!!!!!! ALL OF THE PP01 SECRET RARES ARE CREASED!!!!

Yes, it's true, I bought $80 of the Two-Packs available at Wal-Marts everywhere (released four days early, as per usual) and there is not a single non-creased Secret Rare, and to make matters worse, they're creased in two spots!!! (I have included a scan of one of my seven Chaos Mages, it is shrunken for me to be able to circle the areas, so the creases are not as visible, but if you just can't wait to get that Marshmallon [who's the equivalent of an ultra rare in this pack, and damn near impossible to get] the creases are not very deep, and are not wrinkling the card around it, so the card itself is not too bad off, and 100% playable).  I have contacted UDE about this matter, and they will try to set up a redemption program for the damaged cards.  More details to follow.

What a busy week. >__<

So this one is late now...but whatever..Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Serpents, my most favourite venom monster ever. (I like the original art for this card better as shown below)

Attribute : Dark

Type: Reptile

ATK/ 0 DEF/ 0

 This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except with its own effect or with "Rise of the Snake Deity". This card gains 500 ATK for each Reptile-Type monster in your Graveyard. This card cannot be targeted and is unaffected by the effects of other Monsters, Spells, and Traps. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can remove from play 1 other Reptile-Type monster from your Graveyard to Special Summon this card. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, place 1 Hyper-Venom Counter on it. When 3 Hyper-Venom Counters are on this card, you win the Duel.

 Again just like Vennominon, this card looks weak aswell. This card too looking at it is the most dangerous and powerful card in existence. Technically speaking if this card hits your field, you pretty much win the duel. With absolute immunity to any type of monster removal the only way to destroy this card is by battle and by the time this comes out, it should have around 4000-5000 ATK late game. The only problem about this card is the summoning cost, but if your opponent is dumb enough to destroy Vennominon via spells/traps/effects, play this if you have Rise of Snake Deity facedown.

Counters for this card

Graveyard Removal - the most reliable method of getting rid of Vennominaga, remove the graveyard so this card has 0 ATK then destroy it by battle and it won't be able to ressurect itself.

Seriously, if you protect your graveyard from removal...this card is nearly unstoppable.

Kenn's Cards of the Week 2

Well, this week I'm only doing one review this week due to a hellish weekly schedule (but don't worry, it'll be a big E HERO Special!), but I'm doing it on one of my favorite cards printed, Hero Counterattack.

 

Ok, common, Elemental Hero related, I bet most of you are thinking that this is just a random piece of crap that won't help anything at all.  But then there's the little guy, the E-HERO user that's discovered the Wildedge OTK and just lacks the spunk to get his game into gear.  This card is for him.  A bit A Hero Emerges, a bit Magical Dimension, a bit Pwn4g3, Let's just examine this card. 
Activate only when an E HERO  monster you control is destroyed as a result of battle.  Your opponent selects 1 random card from your hand, and if that monster is an E HERO monster, destroy 1 monster your opponent controls, then Special Summon the monster.
Now, this is very self explanitory, "What if your opponent selects something that's not a monster?" easy, pretend you've set a Morphing Jar and set the other cards!  Now, you might want to set your Hero with this card, so your opponent will probably guess a Jar with your sets, and then attack freely, only to have Counterattack flipped up on them to take out their main attacker and get you out a Bladedge! 200 points above most everything else, not to mention the beautiful Piercing effect that can slam down on a pretty little set (or for the less- Mirror Force inclined duelists, my favorite MF replacement, Windstorm of Etaqua can really screw over your opponent). and a primo choice to throw with Counterattack.  Or the next best thing, Necroshade, who is a huge target, but is that bad?  He dies, and then you can Normal Summon Bladedge with no tribute!  It's a Win-Win Situation! And don't forget, you still get a free monster destruction, so you can easily smash face on an open field afterwards!

Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes

For my second card review this week, I am going to do one of my new favourites, Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes.

Type : Reptile

ATK 0/ DEF 0

This card cannot be Special Summoned by another Effect Monster's effect. This card is unaffected by "Venom Swamp". This card gains 500 ATK for each Reptile-Type monster in your Graveyard. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can remove from play 1 other Reptile-Type monster from your Graveyard to Special Summon this card.

Just looking at this card at first glance, it obviously seems weak with 0 attack and 0 defence points. However, it is useful as a card and moreso by end game because that's when it gets very good. Not only is it unaffected by venom and it's a reptile, so you can power it up with multiple copies of Vennominon it gets into the graveyard. And with 0 attack, it's easily special  summoned via Damage = Reptile, which I will cover some other time. Too bad it's effect limits it from being special summoned by something such as Mystic Tomato. The best part about Vennominon is that it's never gone for long. Either you get another out by Damage = Reptile, or you can chose to remove a reptile monster from your graveyard to resummon if it was killed in battle, which is a great effect for a monster that can be easily killed in battle. However, if your opponent is careless enough to destroy Vennominon by a card effect, sure it's resurrection effect won't be able to activate, but if you have a facedown Rise of the Snake Diety, to summon Vennominaga, the Deity of Poisonous Snakes then you'll have something better out. 

Counters for this card

~Non battle monster removal

~Graveyard removal  

Not much counters, destroy it in battle, resurrect it back right away. Destroyed by effects, activate Rise of Snake Deity. Or Damage = Reptile another one out.

First Card of the Week I am going to do is one of my most favourite cards.

Attribute: Light

Type: Fairy

Atk 300/ Def 500

The controller of a monster that attacks this face-down card takes 1000 damage after damage calculation. This card cannot be destroyed by battle. (Damage calculation is applied normally.)

 One of the reasons this one one of my personal  favourites is the simple straightfowardness of this card. It is a wall. That inflicts 1000 surprise damage to your opponent. Similar to Spirit Reaper minus the ability to be destroy by a simple equip or something of the sort. It also has a higher defence then Spirit Reaper(barely noticeable), but at least you take less pierce damage as opposed to Spirit Reaper. Stats obviously make it Sangan searchable which is always good. Almost every deck will need a card like this for situations where you need to stall for extra draws, etc.

 Counters for this card

~Nobleman of Crossout when it's facedown always hurts

~Any spell card such as Smashing Ground or Fissure when it is faceup

~Monster removal cards

Even with a reasonable amount of counters out there, I have found this card to help me in a number of tight situations. I believe some of the most helpful ways is basically when you can topdeck this card with both scores below 1000. Players don't usually expect walls so late in the game, and by this point any type of monster removal may have already been used up. They attack this, unexpected, causes 1000 points and they lose. Actually I had a few cases where I won like that.

Card Destruction, Foolish Burial, Instant Fusion

 

Hmm, how many times have you ended up with a bad hand? More often than desirable, I’m sure, and as many players will use Reload or Magical Mallet to refresh their hands, they’re not truly effective. So let’s do the math 40-6+5=39 before your draw, so that’s roughly an 80% chance that you’ll get the same hand. And then there’s Card Destruction, which has so much more to offer than any of them, as it offers not only a refreshed hand, but also disruption and thinning, and a 100% new hand! With a 5 card thinner deck, it also assists you to get to your stronger cards faster, and the discard drops off your higher-level monsters to the much more accessible Graveyard. And finally, the disruption aspect, do you remember the little spell that rained hell most of the last format? “Pay 1000 Life Points. Look at your opponent’s hand and select 1 card in it, and discard that card.”. That’s right, Confiscation, now let’s look at it this way, “Why bother paying 1000 to discard one of my opponent’s cards, when I can discard them all and draw in the process?”

 

Now here’s a Predicament, you’re staring down a Mobius the Frost Monarch, and you’re sitting on a Premature Burial with only a Sangan and Old Vindictive Magician in the grave, the rest of your hand gone like Chaos decks, and I’d bet you’d love to have a Dark Magician of Chaos in there right now to pick up on your dead Brain Control. Well, the new Structure Deck: Revival of the Dragon Lords (SDRL, a modified SD13) can grant you that wish! The new spell, Foolish Burial, lets you select one monster from your deck and send it to the grave, where cards are right there in front of you to see what you can do with them. Now you can laugh even more obnoxiously when you pick up on Destiny Hero – Malicious into a Destiny Hero – Dasher for those last 2100 Life Points.

 

In a metagame filled with Monarchs, faster fodder with no drawbacks, like Soul Exchange taking away your attack, or Premature Burial taking away your, well, Premature Burial, is greatly needed. And the solution to this predicament, Instant Fusion is a great way to get out quick fodder that will let you keep your attack, and a great fusion monster like Dark Balter the Terrible or Fiend Skull Dragon in the grave that won’t waste your Premature Burial. And here’s the best part, IT’S UNLIMITED. And especially now, in this fresh format, this little box of Top Ramen will surely lead to other little discoveries in the form of Level 5 Fusion Monsters, in fact, I just recently unearthed my Series 1 book and whipped out some Musician Kings to Magical Dimension into Dark Magician.

Kenn’s Cards of the Week 5

 

E·HERO - Malicious Edge, E·HERO – Hell Gainer, Doom Shaman

 

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit’s that time again!  I’m coming at you this week with a new archetype that’s been getting more than a fair bit of hype, Evil Heroes.  Now, what’s up with my notation?  It’s for an easier explanation of just how this deck will work, and now, here’s a lesson in the Japanese language.  First, the main font is called Kanji, which is ideographs to represent the word and is learned by advanced students, as every word is different (Sayonara = ???????????????).  Secondly, there is Katakana, which, like the Latin/Roman inspired languages use to “spell out” words phonetically, and is learned by young students (Sayonara = SAYONARA).  Finally, there is “Romanji”, which uses the Roman alphabet to “spell out” Japanese words phonetically (i.e. Sayonara).  These can actually all be seen at once on a Hero card. You will have the Romanji for what kind of Hero it is (E-HERO, D-HERO, E·HERO, or Elemental Hero, Destiny Hero, and Evil Hero, respectively), Kanji for its name, and Katakana for those who have yet have learned Kanji or English.  And now, why I opted to use the Romanji for the Heroes’ names, in the OCG, Elemental Hero - Stratos’ effect translated to “E or D-HERO”, which lead the single E to not only apply to Elemental Heroes, but also Evil Heroes, which changed just about everything, now all E-HERO cards now also applied to E·HEROes (note how I switch between English and Romanji). This now made E·HEROes that much more versatile, especially due to the support given to them from the previously successful E-HERO build, Big City.  Now that we’ve gotten through the explanation, let’s get to the card reviews.

 

First, here’s the “new face” of aggression, Evil Hero – Malicious Edge!  Now, when we got Elemental Hero – Bladedge, everyone immediately though of how great he was, 2600 ATK with a pierce, and good players found that combo'ing him with an Elemental Hero – Necroshade in the graveyard (thanks to Dark World Lightning, and for a short while, Dark World Dealings) was an amazing move. But now, we have a 2600 piercer that can be brought out with, wait for it, 2, 1, or no Tributes!  Clear your opponent’s field?  Bummer, he’s a two Tribute.  Let your opponent get something out?  One Tribute.  Used a Foolish Burial to send an Elemental Hero – Necroshade to the graveyard? Free 2600 piercer.  Now, how can you say no to that?  He must have the shortest explanation of all time, a simple “Pwn4g3” could’ve sufficed, but I love him so much, you got all of this. Yay!

 

Combo attacker please! Evil Hero – Infernal Gainer, he deserves the same explanation as Elemental Hero – Malicious Edge, but eh.  Pwn4g3.  Remove him for two turns, Malicious Edge can attack twice, “Yayness”, right?  Getting two of these babies out and Evil Hero – Malicious Edge can pretty much shut down a duel, by telling your opponent that you’re not going to let them get any tribute fodder out for their Raiza the Storm Monarch, and that if they even TRY to set a Marshmallon, that’s still 4200 in their face right off, and if they think that Raiza the Storm Monarch will help, I’m sure you’ll have an unused Elemental Hero – Necroshade you can easily get to just about anywhere.

 

DOOM SHAMAN!  Need I say more?  I think so, Call of the Haunted, Premature Burial, Second Summon, Special Malicious Edge, I think that can get you to game in no time at all.  Okay, okay, I wasted a lot of my bandwidth on the explanations, and the internet is going to run out of space in two years, so now I’ll get to the deck.

Okay, I know it’s nineteen cards, but if you notice, Mei-Kou, Master of Barriers, Twister, and Dust Tornado are Transmutation Circled, which means that they’re interchangeable, depending on your deck and your Metagame, if you have a very specific spell lineup, Mei-Kou, Master of Barriers or Dust Tornado would be a better choice, follow this depending on what you wouldn’t mind losing out of your Monsters, Spells, or Traps, also, if your Metagame is blasted with burn decks, or your mainboard already costs a lot of Life Points to use, try not to use Twister, it is the fastest, most economic, and the most versatile of the three choices, but if your Life dwindles from big swings with Injection Fairy Lily and Dark Elf, it’ll hurt more than help.  But, if you can’t seem to decide, let me nudge you on over to Mei-Kou, Master of Barriers.  Sure, he won’t destroy anything and let you set, or kill face-ups on the turn you draw it, but Continuous Spells will be your biggest threat in the forms of Call of the Mummy, Card of Safe Return, Call of the Haunted, Light-Imprisoning Mirror, and Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror, and most decks need their specific Spell and Trap line-up for their main speed, consistency, and “aggressive” defense, but often have a couple Creatures they can lose, so while it’ll take you longer to predetermine just what to Sideboard out, it’ll be more valuable in the long run.  And in case you live under a rock, and you’re NOT running Breaker the Magical Warrior AND Mystical Space Typhoon, they’re the two to put in the side.
