Light and Darkness Dragon, Destiny Hero – Bloo-D, Spell Striker, and the quintessential

Light and Darkness Dragon Deck

I’m so sorry for being away for so long, but school has been hell, my professors all decided to have 5 page papers due at the same time, so I’ve been going through hell, but I still found the time to build a new deck, with a new theme, based on a new card, ready to rock the new format, that card of course, is none other than the “overly” hyped Light and Darkness Dragon.

Now, I’m assuming you all can read his effect so I’ll just clarify some of his rulings.  His effect is compulsory, one step up from mandatory (like a maintenance fee), so instead just of being forced to activate it, because he’s multi trigger, you’re forced to activate it on Chain Link 2.  He can only be placed on a chain once this is so he doesn’t keep going crazy negating everything, and it gives you a bit of an advantage protecting him, for example, when he’s so weak, and you need to save your Life Points, flip up a Shrink, have your Dragon activate, then flip a Mirror to save yourself, but forget the Dragon, but we’ll get to that later.  His values cannot drop below their minimum, this means he can only negate FOUR times unless you increase his ATK and DEF, but in this case, it’s his DEF keeping you from going to 5 negations, so he’ll lose 2000 off of his initial 2400 to get to 400 DEF (leaving him with 800 ATK, which is a step up from 300, forget if he gets killed, we just don’t like too much damage).  And finally the cake-topper, he cannot negate preexisting continuous effects, as he stops only the activation of effects, so don’t’ worry about your Jinzo chilling there, he can take care of traps so LaDD can only negate spells and monsters, letting him drop slower, but who cares if he gets killed?  Now for why I keep emphasizing my nonchalantnessocity about his death, we want him to get killed.  You see, when he gets killed, you get to Special Summon anything you can, including that Dark Magician of Chaos you got discarded, or your Disc Commander chilling there while you wait for a Fear Monger.

And while I believe I covered everything on the dragon, let me slyly transition into Destiny Hero – Bloo-D, one of the best cards to be rocking in a LaDD deck, because he fits the rest of the disruption so well, you just can’t say no, but don’t forget, this deck isn’t all about disruption, its more or less making your opponent waste their resources to run over LaDD to summon out a stronger monster, but back to Bloo-D, his explanation is simple, 3 tributes, continuous monster effect negation (so LaDD can’t stop him) and his absorption may not be the early-union absorption of Relinquished and the Thousand-Eyes Restrict, but to think, I’m moving my opponent’s monster to a place where they can’t get it back.

So now we get to the little guy, the one who hasn’t seen much play, the one who can be special summoned practically for free, the one who can attack directly, and the one who takes no battle damage when destroyed.  Still scratching your head? I’m talking about Spell Striker, of course, and let me tell you this, he’s essential in this build, think of your Treeborn Frog, who activates every Standby Phase, who will drop your LaDD to 800 ATK in no time at all.  Now don’t call me a hypocrite just yet, I’m not saying that LaDD is meant to stay out, just that the more field time he gets, the better. So now you need a replacement for Treeborn, something that special for damn near nothing, something that is as fast to be Special Summoned the turn you topdeck it, so no Trap Monsters here, what do you turn to?  This guy and the best part is, during all of my testing and tournament play with him, people refuse to get rid of him! 600 direct?  Fine, I won’t waste my Mirror or Phoenix on it, but what they don’t realize is that that 600, it stacks up.  And if your opponent has a nice lineup of Marshmallon, Spirit Reaper, and Gemini Summoner chilling in defense, not much better than to Special Striker, go direct, and then offer it for Raiza, the Storm Monarch to destroy Reaper via Reaper’s effect.  So, If you'relooking for a fast as all hell Fodder Generator, go for this little guy, you won't regret running him.

And now that I’ve outlined the headliners, I’ll give you the build to go along with its pretty, pretty OreoTMBrand face, and our very first decklist for the CookieCutters who have supported the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game metagame for oh, so long
